Note: This Venturescale Trends report is part of the Startup Ideas & Trends Library, which covers topics such as 🤖AI SaaS, ✍️Creator Economy, 🔵Web3 Startups, and the 🚀Unbundling of the Internet.

AI is taking human creativity to the next level. Anyone can become a Web3 creator without any art skills. For example, you can use Starry.ai to create NFT art and mint it on NFT marketplaces. Tools like Sketchar lets you create and monetize AR drawing on its native NFT marketplace.

In Web2, AI tools democratize creativity in unprecedented ways. Creators now use AI tools to automate content writing, video production, music creation, and so on. A new type of collaboration is emerging in which humans collaborate with machines to create online media. Content creation becomes cheaper and more scalable, thanks to generative tech.

Today’s report will be discussing the AI/no-code tools that empower creators to create and monetize in the Web2 and Web3 space. We will also cover niche markets and new opportunities where builders can create new solutions in this space.

Section 1: Key Market Trends

(1) AI-powered NFT art collection:

  • Today, anyone can create digital artwork using AI, and mint them as NFTs on marketplaces like Open Sea. AI artwork or generative art relies on algorithms to create unique attributes (e.g. visual themes, color schemes, mood) in each image, therefore, creating rarity in collectible art which then determines the value of the NFT.
  • Eponym is the largest generative art collection on Open Sea.
  • AI Art House is a Vincent Van Gogh-inspired NFT collection.
  • Metascapes is an AI-generated landscape NFT collection.
  • LOSTPOETS made $70 million in 2 hours for its generative art collection.

(2) Speed up video creation with AI:

  • Startups are helping anyone create video content from plain text. Personalized video solutions are going from content creation to content augmentation. Synthetic videos like avatar talking heads replace real speakers, a new best friend for the camera-shy creators.
  • Meta launched Make-A-Video, a text-to-video tool that combines the motion of two images.
  • Synthesia uses life-like human presenters. Users can replace their own voiceover with AI-generated voice from 65 languages and accents.
  • Elai.ai turns your blog post into video content in 3 clicks.
  • SteveAI turns text into animations.
  • Movio generates talking avatars that lip-sync with the content you enter in 20 languages.

(3) Autonomous writing:

  • AI is creating new categories of digital productivity tools. Companies are building “AI writing assistant” software to help people write faster and remove writer’s blocks forever. These tools take the form of content generation (suggest phrases or sentences) and content augmentation (reword, rephrase).
  • Wordtune uses AI to enhance articles, academic papers, essays, emails, and any other online content.
  • Lex is an AI-powered word processor that generates blocks of new sentences and blog title ideas based on your previous content input.
  • Compose AI is an AI autocompletion tool that works on Slack, email, Notion, blog, and essay.
  • Rytr helps you create high-quality content with features such as autofill, shorten, rephrase, and add paragraphs.
  • HyperWrite generates original and engaging content, based on your instructions.

Section 3: Problems & Market Needs

(1) Democratize creativity:

  • For decades, creating arts, music, and animations was reserved for the gifted, talented, and mastered — or for those who possessed the necessary tools (e.g. specific software or equipment) to express their creativity. New AI tools are making creative skills more accessible to creators, helping them accomplish expert-level creative output in seconds not months.
  • DeepMotion captures real-time body motion. Anyone can generate 3D animations and full-body avatars from video in seconds through any web browser.
  • Promethean AI helps creators build 3D immersive virtual worlds assets without any coding.
  • Playground AI generates high-quality AI images based on keyword prompts. The paid plan allows users to create unlimited dimensions of up to 1M pixels.
  • Harmonai is using an open-sourced approach to making music production more accessible for anyone.

Section 4: Next Big Things + Untapped Opportunities

(1) AI will be the extension of the metaverse or vice versa:

  • The metaverse consists of digital identities that come together to play, work, earn, trade, and socialize in a 3D, real-time rendered virtual destination–whether it’s on the blockchain or non-blockchain worlds.
  • As such, there are many components in the metaverse that could leverage artificial intelligence to create an immersive world and virtual economy.
  • 3D software for metaverse: Anyone can build a metaverse building without any design skills. Tools to generate virtual worlds like Decentraland by typing keywords or uploading images.
  • Digital persona: Turn your real personality into an AI personality. Being able to create an AI clone for your digital avatar’s personality including voice, facial features, movement, speech, etc.
  • Real-time avatars: Generate real-time 3D avatars based on the text description input.
  • AI-based VR: Generate virtual worlds and 3D experiences using connected VR devices.

(2) Scaling education with AI:

  • Educator burnout is increasing. In a 2022 survey of over 4,000 teachers, 81% reported increasing workload. More than 55% of teachers said they have less planning time due to staff shortages.
  • AI will scale education the way it scales content creation and creativity. This will take the form of AI tutors, lecture generation, personalized educational content, and adaptive learning.
  • TutorEva and Amy is an AI-based private tutoring platform for mathematics.
  • Speak is an English learning app that generates real conversational practice without human tutors.
  • Squirrel Ai simulates human teachers and provides personalized learning plans and one-on-one tutoring for K12 students.
  • Buddy.ai is a personal AI English tutor for children.
  • Kimo generates learning content for a variety of domains and content formats.

(3) AI-based curation economy:

  • Curators are the new content creators who make a living by searching for the best resources and sharing their recommendations with a niche audience.
  • AI will change the curator economy from human curation to human-machine curation. AI will collaborate with curators to surface relevant content and the curators will focus more on distribution (e.g. branding, promoting, and marketing) and less time on curation activities (e.g. consuming and organizing information).
  • Anyone can build a Google search for X. With AI, the possibilities of building niche search engines will become scalable. Startups could provide AI/ML training models for consumers to build a personalized search engine that is unique to their use cases.
  • Anyone can become a DJ. DJs are known as music curators who make a living by organizing music playlists and playing them to an audience. Imagine if you could generate a Spotify playlist based on the input of your mood, genres, and preferences.
  • Anyone can build a directory website. Imagine asking AI to generate a list of the best no-code software, pitch deck, and landing page resources based on input such as industry, use cases, target audience, pricing, etc.

Section 5: Strategy & Recommendation

(1) Monetizing the AI economy as a creator:

  • Repurpose your content. Make your existing content multi-format and distribute it across marketing channels. A blog post can be turned into a video (with Synthesia), podcast (Murf), social media posts (Canva AI), graphics (DeepAI), and presentation slides (Beautiful.ai).
  • Automate your workflow. Find the right AI tools to automate content creation, editing, distribution, marketing, reporting, and optimization. For example, LogoAI for logo creation; Jasper for copywriting; Loomly for social media automation; LinkAffinity for SEO link building.
  • Become a Web3 AI artist. If you’re Web3 curious, consider using AI tools to create NFT art and mint them as NFTs. You can monetize generative NFTs directly from platforms like Playform and Starry.
